Stop guessing
what the panel saw.
SkoringMatters helps coaches and judges decode competitive cheer scoring — so every comment leads somewhere, and every score makes sense.
The anatomy of useful feedback.
Built for the gym floor and the judge's table.
Coach Education
Learn how judges read a routine — what they're looking for, how difficulty and execution are evaluated, and how to build a program that scores.
Judge Training
Develop consistent, defensible scoring habits. Sharpen your eye, standardize your language, and build confidence at the table.
Choreography
Routines designed with scoring in mind — not just performance. Every transition, formation, and skill placement is intentional.
Showcase Scoring
Objective, structured feedback for showcases and scrimmages. Coaches get real scores and real comments — not just encouragement.
Program Consulting
A full-picture look at your program's competitive strategy — from skill selection to division placement to season planning.
Parent Sessions
Help parents understand what scoring actually means. Reduce sideline confusion and build a more informed gym community.
A framework for seeing what the panel sees.
The Scoring Lens is a structured approach to reading competitive cheer — built for coaches who want to understand the score sheet, not just react to it.
See It
Train your eye to identify what the panel is actually evaluating — technique, execution, difficulty, and performance.
Name It
Develop precise language for what you observe. Vague feedback doesn't fix anything. Specific language does.
Fix It
Connect what you see and name to actionable corrections your athletes can execute before the next competition.
Athlete. Coach. Choreographer. Judge. Instructor.
Matt Skorcz has spent his career on every side of competitive cheer — as an athlete, a coach, a choreographer, a judge, and an instructor. That range isn't a resume line. It's the foundation of how SkoringMatters was built.
Most scoring education comes from one perspective. Matt brings all of them. He knows what it feels like to compete under a score, to write one, to build a routine around one, and to teach others how to read one.
Based in Cedar Park, Texas, he works with everyone from first-year coaches trying to understand the sheet to experienced judges looking to sharpen their consistency.
